Step-by-step help: how to crochet a pineapple doily and vintage table runner patterns.

Vintage Doily & Table Linen Patterns: questions & answers

What thread do I need for a crochet doily?
Most vintage doilies use fine cotton crochet thread (size 10 to 30) with a small steel hook. Thicker thread gives a larger doily.
How big is a pineapple doily?
Our pineapple doily finishes at about 11½ in (29 cm) or 16½ in (42 cm), depending on thread and hook.
How do I block a crocheted doily?
Wet the doily, pin it out flat to the right shape on a padded surface and let it dry completely. Starching gives a crisper finish.
