About Us

Vintage lace pattern books and crochet doilies in warm golden light, the Sapphire Concept archive

Sapphire Concept is a small family studio that brings antique needlework books back to life.

Our story started in 2021 with handmade crochet doilies, made at home and shipped to makers around the world. Lace has always been part of our family, and the more we made, the more curious we became about where these patterns came from.

That curiosity led us to the old pattern books: Priscilla booklets, D.M.C. albums, thread-company leaflets and Victorian magazines, printed between 1847 and 1930. Many are now in the public domain, but they are scattered, hard to read and easy to overlook. We decided to change that.

What we do

Every title in our shop is an Archive Edition:

  • The original stays complete. Every page of the historic book is kept, in order, with its photographs, charts and instructions.
  • Cleaned and organised. Scans are cleaned for comfortable reading on screen and in print.
  • A guide for today's maker. Most books open with our own guide pages: vintage terms, thread and hook notes, and a locator for every project.

Who we are

Sapphire Concept is run by Gamze Fatma, with family members helping on research, design and making. We read every book before it goes into the archive, and we answer every message ourselves.

Our promise

  • We tell you exactly what is inside each file, including the page count and the original source.
  • We are open about our tools: covers and some presentation images are made with AI-assisted design tools, while the historic patterns are original archive material. Read more.
  • If something is wrong with a file, we will fix it. Just write to us.

Thank you for helping keep these old patterns alive.
